SERVPRO of Fernandina Beach/Jacksonville Northeast Supports a Worthy Cause: The Caden Project

What if you could help put a stuffed teddy bear into the hands of every hospitalized child?

In keeping with our goal of giving back to the communities we serve, SERVPRO of Fernandina Beach/Jacksonville Northeast recently contributed to a very worthy cause, becoming a Gold Sponsor of the Bears Boots and BBQ Bash last Saturday in Callahan. The purpose of the event, sponsored by the Caden Project and Compassionate Hearts for Kids, was to raise funds and spread awareness for their efforts to provide teddy bears to kids in children’s hospitals, and show those kids that people care. Laine Hardy, of American Idol fame, performed at the dinner.

Caden Project Background

Richard and Christina Wood started The Caden Project and Compassionate Hearts for Kids, Inc. a 501(c)(3) non- profit organization after the heartbreak they endured with their boys, Caleb & Caden. Both were born with a genetic immune disorder and had to go through a bone marrow transplant in order to survive. Living in and out of the hospital for so long, Richard and Christina witnessed first-hand the turmoil these kids and families go through and wanted to give back to them and show them someone cares. Their younger son Caden went through his transplant in 2013 and was given a teddy bear by a close friend. That bear comforted him and became his friend. The Caden Project was then born to help bring the same comfort Caden received to other kids through the "Caden" teddy bears. It is their mission to put a smile on the faces of every child in our nation’s children’s hospitals.
