Tree Crashes Through Roof of Your Jacksonville Home. What to Do?

2/10/2021 (Permalink)

tree crashed through roof of home SERVPRO of Fernandina Beach/Jacksonville NE provides turnkey services to repair and restore disasters like a tree crashing through your roof!

So a storm is brewing outside your house on a dark and windy night, and suddenly a tree crashes through your roof. What do you do?

First, get your family out of harm’s way. You may even have to call 911 to get help from one of our local First Responders. The next thing to do is to call the mitigation and restoration experts at SERVPRO Fernandina Beach/Jacksonville NE. Not only do we offer 24-hour emergency services so we’ll get there fast, but we also provide the gamut of services to get your home back to normal.

For example, when the storm passes, we will tarp the roof so no additional rain can get in and cause further water damage. Then, our roof repair team will assess damages, give you a repair estimate, and help you with the insurance claim. We can then make any necessary repairs.

Immediately after the roof is tarped, we assess water damages using moisture meters and thermal imaging. We then extract water from your home and belongings, and scientifically dry contents and structure. All water damage services, including the roof tarping, is performed by our emergency services team.

After water extraction and drying, our reconstruction team comes in for repairs to make it “Like it never even happened.” These services may be limited to replacing drywall, baseboards, and trim boards, or may entail a complete renovation if desired--including floors, cabinetry, appliances, countertops, painting, and a host of related services.

This is a snapshot of what we at SERVPRO do. Here are some things you can do in the meantime.

You should…

  • Cover furniture with tarps to prevent water damage.
  • Remove excess water by blotting and mopping.
  • Remove and prop up upholstery cushions for even drying.
  • Place aluminum foil or wood blocks under furniture legs.

What NOT to do…

  • Do NOT turn on ceiling fixtures if the ceiling is wet.
  • Keep out of areas where ceilings are sagging from retained water.
  • Do not leave books, magazines or colored materials on wet carpeting.

We hope a tree never crashes through your roof, but if you have roof or water issues, call the professionals at SERVPRO Fernandina Beach/Jacksonville Northeast at 904.729.2401. Whether you call at 3am or 3pm you will always reach a member of our SERVPRO team--not an answering service or recording.
